Flightsim.to Auto Installer

The Flightsim.to Auto Installer is a new feature designed to make downloading and installing add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator as simple as possible. With one click, mods are downloaded and placed directly into your Community folder – ready to use immediately in the simulator.

Auto Installer is not designed to replace website features such as version management or specific addon manager tools. There are other freeware tools that handle that job. Auto Installer’s only purpose is to reduce the hassle of downloading, extracting, and installing addons manually - it does, as the name suggests, install your addons automatically.

How does it work?

Install Flightsim.to Auto Installer on your computer. After the initial setup, the tool requires no further configuration and can be closed. By pressing the Auto Install button on Flightsim.to, our installer automatically downloads the chosen add-on, extracts it, and places it directly into the correct MSFS Community folder. The installer is smart enough to detect the proper installation path on its own. It supports both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, and if both versions are installed on the same system, you can simply choose which one you want to use.

This feature is currently offered exclusively to Premium Members, meaning a Premium Membership is required to access and use the Auto Installer.

It is important to note that the Auto Installer only works with add-ons and mods that can be directly extracted into the Community folder, such as liveries or scenery packages. Not every download on Flightsim.to is currently compatible with this feature, and creators are required to specifically mark their uploads as supporting. As more creators prepare their files in this format, the number of supported downloads will continue to grow.

Support for Multiple Installations or Custom Libraries

If you have both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 installed on your device, the installer detects both versions. You can either choose one of those installations, or choose a custom installation path. If you choose a custom installation path, Auto Installer will handle the symbolic linking to your actual MSFS Community folder which it has detected. If no preference is saved, a selection dialog will appear letting you choose which simulator(s) should receive the link - if any. You can check “Remember my choice” so you won’t be asked again. Preferences can be updated anytime in the app’s Settings.

How to Use

  1. Ensure you have a Premium Membership.

  2. Download and install the Flightsim.to Auto Installer (one-time setup).

  3. Browse Flightsim.to as usual.

  4. Click the Auto Install button on any add-on page.

  5. The installer will now automatically:

    • Detect your MSFS version.

    • Download and extract the add-on.

    • Place it directly in your Community folder or the custom location.

      • You will be asked whether you want to create a symbolic link to the actual Community folder if required.

  6. Launch MSFS and enjoy your new add-on

Auto Installer currently only supports freeware content and does not work with payware content available on the Flightsim.to Store.

Information for Creators

Compatibility with Auto Installer depends on whether you have marked your uploaded archive as Supports Auto-Install during the upload process.

Your uploaded file must be a ZIP archive and must only contain the folder or folders that the user would normally drag and drop into the Community folder. For example, if the add-on is provided as ADDONSCENERY.ZIP, the archive should include a folder such as addon-scenery/ that directly contains the required files, including manifest.json and the usual MSFS add-on structure.

Archives should not include additional nested folders, installers, or unrelated files, as this will prevent the Auto Installer from working properly.
