Creator Verification – What You Need to Know

To comply with international regulations for digital platforms, Flightsim.to is required to verify the identity and tax information of all creators who receive payouts through the Creators Program.

Identity verification will be requested when you submit your first payout request. We will email you detailed instructions along with a link to our partner, iDenfy, who will guide you through a smooth and straightforward verification process.

Why we need to verify creators

Digital platforms worldwide are required to comply with the EU DAC7 / Platform Transparency Rules (and similar international laws). These rules apply to any platform that allows users to earn money, such as YouTube, Patreon, Twitch or similar. They require platform operators like Flightsim.to to:

  • collect and verify identity information,

  • collect tax-related information,

  • and report certain payout data to tax authorities when specific thresholds are met.

This requirement applies regardless of where the creator lives (EU or non-EU).

What information we need from you

The verification process is short and only needs to be completed once. Depending on whether you are an individual or a business, we may ask for your:

  • Full legal name

  • Date of birth

  • Residential address

  • Country of tax residence

  • Tax Identification Number (TIN)

  • A valid ID document (e.g., passport, ID card, driver’s license)

  • A valid Proof of Address Document (e.g. a utility bill, bank statement)

  • A selfie of yourself to verify your identity

All data is processed securely and only for legal compliance purposes.

Verification is required in order to receive payments within the Flightsim.to Creators Program, such as cashing out your Platform Credit balance. Shortly after you submit your first withdrawal request, we will send you an email with instructions on how to verify.

Verification is only required for members of the Flightsim.to Creators Program who earn Platform Credit. If you use Flightsim.to as a regular creator to share freeware content, verification is not required. Furthermore, direct donations handled through third-party platforms such as PayPal, Patreon, Buy Me A Coffee or similar are not subject to Flightsim.to’s verification, but may be subject to verification on these platforms.

What happens if I don’t verify?

You can continue using the platform normally, but we cannot issue any payouts until verification is completed. Your existing balance remains yours, but will stay on hold. Payouts will be released automatically once verification is finished. We are legally not allowed to pay out funds to an unverified person.

Does verification mean I owe tax?

No, not automatically. Verification simply ensures that we comply with reporting rules. We do not declare or collect any tax on your behalf. Your local tax obligations depend entirely on your own situation and local laws. Flightsim.to does not determine whether your income is taxable, and we do not provide tax advice.

Typically, if your income reaches a certain threshold, you may be required to report it as taxable income to the relevant tax authority. This is similar to the requirement for reporting eBay sales, for example. If you are uncertain, we recommend seeking legal advice.

Is my data safe?

Your data is processed securely with our trusted identification partner iDenfy, protected by the GDPR and industry-standard security practices and only used where legally required.

I only earn small amounts or receive donations. Do I still need to verify?

Yes, if you want to receive payouts. Even if you earn less than certain reporting thresholds, we still must verify your identity before transferring funds. This applies to donations as well, because payouts must be sent to a verified individual. It does not mean your income is taxable — it simply ensures we are sending funds to the correct person.

How long does the verification take?

Usually only a few minutes. Once all required information is provided and documents are uploaded, verification is typically completed quickly. If anything is missing, our support team will contact you.
